Dying Matters Week connects people across Aotearoa to start conversations in a safe space, learn from local experts and seek support for later life, end-of-life planning and to navigate grief or loss.

Dying Matters Week 2026 events are taking place in across the Canterbury region from Monday 7th to Sunday 13th September.

The programme across New Zealand includes: hands-on workshops and presentations from experts in end-of-life, grief and death-care, resources and information from local businesses, crematorium open days, curated collections of books on grief and dying, online events and podcasts, art and theatre, poetry and storytelling, DIY Funeral Workshops, Death Cafes and panel discussions.
