Dying Matters Week connects people across Aotearoa to start conversations in a safe space, learn from local experts and seek support to plan for later life and end-of-life and to navigate grief and loss.
The 2026 programme took place from Monday 7th September to Sunday 13th September in regions around New Zealand with more than 250 in-person events in 12 regions. Hundreds of organisations, speakers, volunteers and community members. And thousands of conversations about something that affects every one of us.
From Northland to Otago, communities came together for workshops, Death Cafés, expos, panel discussions, open days, presentations, poetry, conversations about grief and opportunities to step behind the scenes of the deathcare sector.
