Exploring Water Cremation

Date: 12/09/2026
Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Venue: Bell, Lamb & Trotter Funeral Directors, 420 St Asaph Street, Christchurch

As part of Dying Matters Week, Bell, Lamb & Trotter warmly invite the community to a special behind-the-scenes tour of Canterbury’s first water cremation facility.

Hosted by Deborah Richards and Andrew Bell, this event offers an opportunity to learn about aquamation and the vision behind bringing this innovative service to our region. Driven by a commitment to providing families with greater choice, understanding, and support, Deborah and Andrew recognised the growing desire for end-of-life options that reflect individual values, beliefs, and environmental considerations.

More than simply a tour of the technology, this is an opportunity to explore how the choices we make can reflect what matters most to us and the legacy we wish to leave behind. Participants will have the chance to hear the story behind the facility, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of an end-of-life option that is attracting growing interest both in New Zealand and internationally.

Whether you are curious about aquamation, interested in future planning, or simply enjoy learning about innovative approaches to care and service, all are welcome.
