Porirua Cemetery Tour and Talk

Allan has been researching Porirua Cemetery since 2014 initially into veterans who are interred in the cemetery and then into the local residents and hospital patients and staff. Allan with others publish stories on Friends of Porirua Cemetery and the team is supporting the work done in the Unmarked Graves project.

Allan will offer a tour and talk which will include formation of the cemetery, the Mortuary Chapel, the Hospital Patient project, veterans, and general graves, and victorian symbolism.

Come and join us to learn more about the Porirua Cemetery then head over to the Porirua Library in the afternoon for a talk by Emma-Jean Kelly sharing the story of her Great Great Uncle James and learn how to make a Brigids Cross.

Porirua Cemetery is located at 32 Kenepuru Drive. Park on the road and meet by the Chapel.
