Come and meet Sandy, an end-of-life doula to hear how this emerging field of professional practice is supporting people and their whānau in the sacred journey of dying and death. If you’re interested in becoming a doula yourself, this is an opportunity to find out if becoming a doula would be suitable for you, and the professional development options and pathways that are available in Australasia and further afield.
Sandy will also run a session on how to organise an Advance Care Plan. This document describes what is important to you, as well as the healthcare and treatments you want as you near the end of your life. Unlike a will which becomes active after you die, the ACP identifies your wishes before you die.
Sandy is a professional member of the End of Life Doula Alliance Aotearoa (ELDAA), and a validated member of Celebrants Aotearoa (CANZ), and currently lives in Tāmaki Makaurau.
