We comfort people near the end of life with gentle, soothing songs. We sing by request, at people’s bedsides, at home or in care facilities from Wellington through to Porirua and Hutt Valley.
When we sing in communal spaces, we sing in groups of eight to ten. For closer “bedside singing” situations, we send a team of three to four singers.
Our request sings vary greatly depending on circumstances. It is our experience that every sing is unique, just like the person we’re singing for. We could sing just one song or two, or we might sing for quite a while. The songs can be soothing or uplifting, depending on the needs of the patient, family and caregivers.
Our singing offers comfort and relaxation, a connection with community and a feeling of support that extends to family and caregivers. We’re trained to be sensitive to the needs of those present, and to respond accordingly.
