Welcome to Dying Matters Week Manawatū-Whanganui.

Dying Matters Week 2025 is being brought to you by Laura Sweetman Independent Funeral Director and the Palmerston North City Library 

Head along to the library in the first week of September to take part in activities including resources and information, a curated collection of books on grief and dying, panel discussions with local experts and opportunities to drop in and chat.

Planning is underway for lots of other events and conversation spaces including a Death Cafe, DIY Funeral Workshop, ACP Workshop and more. Keep an eye on this page or the Dying Matters Week Facebook page for updates to the 2025 programme.

A curated collection of books for adults and children, about end-of-life, health journeys and grief.

Drop-in sessions
Opportunity to talk to local experts about the end-of-life journey and palliative care services and support.

Panel Discussions – 11th August
Representatives working in palliative care and death care.

Local Resources
Death-care resources from local businesses and organisations.

Shared Reading – 5th August
The Reading Revolution shared reading session that explored dying and loss.

Death Cafe – 31st August
Manawatu Death Cafe – cake, coffee and conversations about death.
