Death Cafe Dunedin

Death Cafe Dunedin is coming out of its winter sleep! We had a break and will now revive our lively conversation about matters of death at a new venue!

This group offers on open platform for anyone to talk about death, dying, their experiences around death, their fears, hopes, visions, practical input they may be able to share when someone dies…. whatever!
There is no intention of leading participants to any conclusion, product or course of action.
It is an open forum where we can talk about the one thing in life that connects us ALL: death!
The group provides an open, respectful and confidential space where people can express their views safely.

The host does her best to allow enough time for all participants to speak; therefore, we are aiming for around 12 participants (up to 20 max) and with this new venue we may attract possibly more than that – PLEASE DO PRE-REGISTER by RSVP to dunedindeathcafe@gmail.com! If the group becomes too big unexpectedly, we may have to limit access on the day. Also please notify us if you can no longer attend by 10 am on 18th October. Thank you for understanding!

There is no admission fee, but The Swan is expecting us to consume something from their lovely menu! Please remember to RSVP !!!!!

Whether we avoid the topic, run away from the inevitable, deny or embrace the reality of our own mortality, we can improve our quality of life by making death part of life again. And in that conclusion: …add more living to life! THAT IS the goal of the Death Cafe!

What it is NOT: counselling, bereavement support or presentation of a specific topic. What we talk about as a group and individually unfolds as we go…. throughout the attendant-driven discussions. Death Cafes simply provide a platform to speak and be listened to… with compassion, respect and presence.
So… save the date for our next and final 2024 (we will resume late January or February only).
