Getting Your Ducks in a Row – Thinking Ahead

Tanya Newman, Social Worker at North Haven Hospice in Whangārei, spoke at Dying Matters Week 2024, about better preparing for aging and end of life. Tanya asked: ‘What practical steps can you take now, to make the end of life easier?’ Now is always a good time to understand what is (and isn’t) available, so you can plan appropriately. Watch Tanya's presentation split into three easy to watch 10 minute videos.

Thinking about where you live

The first video in this series looks at where you live, and helping you to think ahead to consider how your needs might change. Tanya talks about location, accessibility, transport options, equipment, maintenance and what it would take to be able to move.

Aged Residential Care

The second video in this series looks at Aged Residential Care and what you need to know. Tanya talks about levels of care, availability, how to arrange for admission and how to pay for care.

At Home Care Options

The third video in this series looks at options for ‘at home care’ in New Zealand. Tanya talks about your care team, respite care and funding options available.

Some information in these videos may be specific to the Whangarei area. We recommend you talk to your GP about options in your local area.
