Meg O’Halloran Counselling
I work with terminally ill children, young people and adults in a therapeutic capacity, but using an art model by way of a self-portrait. Therapy is interwoven into the art itself. I paint with them, and demonstrate painting techniques as we go, so no real skill is required, just an interest in art and a need/desire to process their journey.
Coming from an arts background, I combine creativity when working with our tamariki and rangitahi. I offer a specific art model that they understand and thrive in, and therefore enjoy coming to counselling. Having fun is a direct antidote to the stress hormone cortisol. By simply learning relaxing, playful habits and strategies, we can rewire a stressed and anxious-ridden brain.
