Welcome to Dying Matters Week Tauranga

Dying Matters Week in Tauranga is brought to you by End of Life Doulas, Gaylene Delaney and Carol Wales, from Monday 1st to Sunday 7th September. This event connects people across Aotearoa to start conversations in a safe space, learn from local experts and seek support to get affairs in order and navigate grief or loss.

The programme includes a full-day Dying Matters Expo Event with stalls from local businesses including: Hope Funeral Home, ELDAA – End of Life Doulas, Advance Care Planning, Holland Beckett Lawyers, Death without Debt, Alzheimers New Zealand, My will wishes, Forget me not Life stories, B.O.P Memorials, Hospice, Carried Away Coffins, Katikati Coffin Club, Aromatherapist, The Holistic Shebang, Assisted Dying – End of Life Choice Society and BOP Home Funeral Support. Farewells and Natural Burial, 6pm - 7pm

Join Lydia and Eva from Hope Family Funerals as they share their expertise in planning meaningful farewells. This relaxed, practical session will help you record your wishes, understand funeral options and costs, and relieve stress for those you leave behind. We’ll also introduce natural burial as a simple, environmentally conscious option and explain how it works. Whether you’re planning for yourself or helping a loved one prepare, this talk will give you clarity, confidence and support. Bookings essential.

Q&A Session with End of Life Doulas and Katikati Coffin Club, 10am - 11:30am

Talking about death won’t kill you – but it might just help prepare you. Come alone for an open Q & A session with end-of-life doulas Gaylene delaney and Carol Wales, along with Kerry from the Katikati Coffin Club. Nothing is off the table.

Tauranga Dying Matters Expo, Hope Family Funerals, 9am -4pm

Take the fear out of the unknown. Come along and learn why discussing dying matters. At the Tauranga Dying Matters Expo, dive into practical topics like wills, probate, and advance care plans. Experience a shrouding demonstration and hear from knowledgeable experts about death, dying, and end-of-life options. Explore natural burial choices, learn what hospice care truly offers, and meet end-of-life doulas who provide compassionate support.
