Wellbeing Focus

Wellbeing for Attendees

A significant focus of the hui will be on the wellbeing of participants, given the tender and often
sacred nature of these conversations.

Participants will be welcomed to the hui with a mihi whakatau, led by kaumatua from Hihiaua
Cultural Centre, and will be nourished with good food, lots of wellbeing tasters (such as time to
reflect, stretching, healing music and guided meditation), giving people actionable tools to take
away and share with others in their village.

There will also be lots of time to connect with others, move around and be outside in the fresh air.
A free stretch/yoga session is also being led on the Friday morning for participants.

Meet Kiri Neumann - Toru Kākano

Our wellness tasters throughout the hui will be facilitated by Kiri with an opportunity in the afternoon of Day One to attend her session on self-healing techniques to support resilience in any compassionate role. This workshop offers practical tools to nurture wellbeing and sustain yourself in the care of others.

Kiri has over 40 years experience in Kaimirimiri and Romiromi and facilitates Mirimiri workshops, Healing Circles, Self-healing Workshops, Breathwork and Movement Classes. She attended North Shore Paraphychology School, is a compassionate community builder, connector and Biofrequency Healing Practitioner.

Kiri and her team are also running a ‘Healing the Healer Weekend Retreat’ in Whangārei from 30th May – 1st June 2025. Find out more…

Belinda Hunt – Celtic Harp

Belinda will be playing the Celtic harp, during our lunch break on day one of the hui. This is an ideal instrument for therapeutic music, due to its unique resonance. She is currently studying through the Therapy Harp Training Program, to become a certified healthcare musician.

A healthcare musician works in a variety of community and care settings, playing live music tailored to the needs of a group or individual with the intent of providing support, connection and comfort. The musician adapts the music as it is played, to support the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the person at that time. Live musical services create a calming atmosphere, and can promote increased relaxation, relief from pain, improved family communications, or a moment of solace.

Yoga/Stretch with Dana – Friday 7am

Add your name to the yoga sign up sheet at registration, then come along to the Hatea Room for some gentle stretching and a chance to reset your nervous system.

Dana’s yoga journey began in Germany when her physiotherapist recommended yoga to aid in healing an old knee injury. Beyond physical benefits, she quickly noticed profound shifts in her mind and overall well-being.

Yoga certified in 2019 in Ireland, Dana now teaches classes enriched with mindfulness, body awareness, and meditation practices. Her ongoing studies in yoga nidra, pranayama, and Vipassana meditation shape her classes, creating a space for shared learning and transformation.
